Bembridge Gig Fest
Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st June
For Gigs, Galleys and all types of traditional rowing boats - organised by Bembridge Harbour Authority and the Yarmouth Gig Rowing Club
A perfect excuse for traditional fixed seat rowing boats to head to Bembridge Harbour, gathering in time for Brunch on Saturday 20th. There'll be fun, mixed "Barbarian" style racing (2-3 km) run by Brading Haven Yacht Club (from about 1200), and the festivities will continue into the evening with food (menu coming), a bar, and fabulous Island band the NuBerryz providing musical entertainment.
On Sunday there'll be the opportunity for club boats to compete in some (slightly?!) more serious racing - a mini series of 1-2km races from about 1230. There'll be some standard rules which will be posted here together with more details of the racing asap.
Here's a video of the 2019 Langstone Regatta for a flavour of the event (with kind permission of Sam Brownjohn and Langstone Cutter Gig Club).
Alongside pontoon (rafted) berthing is free for rowing boats for the night of 20th June, but all are very welcome to arrive early and stay longer at a discounted rate! Berthing for support vessels will be at our standard tariff (or online Premier finger rates) and should be booked with the Berthing Office in advance (01983 872828 ext 1), either individually or via their associated rowing club.
Bembridge Harbour Authority General Terms and Conditions apply.
